Something to do While you are Waiting at the Dentist's Office

I am going to be writing a weekly column for the Deseret News, my first column here, came out this evening. It's about how I overcame some difficulties to be the model citizen I am today. Ok, it's sorta about that.

Here are some things I'd like to write about: Sarah Palin, My Dad, briefcases and clementines.

Wowzers, there's a list to look forward to!

Also, did you know you can contribute your own writings to the Deseret News (and other Deseret Media-Ksl, Mormon Times) by logging on to Deseret Connect and submitting your work? Utah residency is not required.

Seize the day!

I am C. Jane Kendrick and contrary to recent reports, self-promotion always feels weird. You can contact me personally at cjanemail @ gmail.com or leave comments on my facebook page and if you are on twitter you can find my tweets here. But no pressure.

Ooh boy, Sarah Palin? That could be the post in which a) I determine you to be the coolest Mormon I have ever encountered (we don't have very many around these parts and I've only ever met one Mormon in person, so most of my Mormon encounters have been online) or b) I quit reading your blog because I can't really respect anyone who doesn't think Palin is a raving lunatic.

(That's all tongue in cheek! I like your blog too much to just up and quit reading, and anyways, you seem very rational. Still, looking forward to the Palin post!)

As per usual C. Jane, your writing is a perfect start to my East Coast day. Once upon a time I did live in Utah and I too 'took' the Deseret News. I'm excited to get yet another dose of your wit, wisdom and humor in the form of news worthy print (albeit via my computer). Congrats! You deserve it.

I read your column and loved every word of it. Humor is a very hard thing to convey in writing and you always make me laugh.
p.s. I have a hearing loss too and am legally blind without correction. I think those things just made me take myself less seriously and my mom says they made me "sweet". ;)

Seriously, I LOVED it. I think I may even "take" the Deseret News paper all the way over here in Maryland--just to read your column.

My husband & I worked with Aaron Shill at the Daily Herald 10 years ago. I am glad to see that he is still at the Deseret News & made it through the layoffs!

Loved your first column, I may have to start "taking the paper" just so I don't miss any :).

I have a dentist appointment this morning...but unfortunately already read the column. Very interested in the Sarah Palin column, since I too can see Russia from my house. ;) Feel free to trek up to the great Alaskan wilderness to visit, and I can show you where Sarah lives, and how to build a snow cave. Don't worry, you don't have to sleep in it if you don't want to.

Keep it up!
