when lucy was little
we ate frequently at the old folks home
and she'd order a monte cristo sandwich
every time.
we decided a month ago that on the
first day of autumn we would make
monte cristo sandwiches for dinner.
monte cristo sandwiches are basically:
turkey, ham and swiss sandwiches
deep fried in a batter
sprinkled with powdered sugar
and garnished with jam.
so how can you beat that?
pro:
they were really tasty
like a donut sandwich?
yes, if you can dig it.
con:
they made my house smell like fried food
which always smells like fish to me
and who likes a fishy smelling house?
pro:
the kids loved 'em
con:
they won't work as left overs
pro:
they were fun to produce.
con:
like other crazy fried food
they should only be eaten about
once a year.
well, that about sums up our
monte cristo adventure tonight.
thanks for tuning in.
