eShakti review

a couple of months ago
i posted about eShakti,
an online dress shop
specializing in custom orders
from sizes 0-26W
and colors,
hemlines,
sleeve-lines
almost anything
can be tailored to your desire.

sounds divine
right?

eShakti let me review two dresses
which i did so ceremoniously
on the busiest day of my life.
i wore one dress to a photography exhibit reception
the other to a family dinner party gala.

the first dress
i had custom fit
which was good because
if you can't tell,
i've got a prodigious nursing cup size.

i sent in all my sizes
and asked that the hemline
be lengthened.

the second dress
i ordered in my regular dress size.

postive one:
they shipped right away.
i ordered late, late on saturday night
and they arrived first thing on thursday.

positive two:
they both fit very well.
i had my suspicions,
but both--
the tailored and the pre-size--
fit great.
i loved the feeling of
having a dress fit
just for my body.
i felt like i really owned the dress.
(if that makes sense.)

positive three:
there were so many choices
on the website
of dresses
(and clothes in general)
that i wanted.
i was able to pick dresses
i thought would look best
on my current body shape.

colorful,
flirty,
current,
dreamy
selection?

yes.

quality?
though i am not a
expert on clothing construction,
i thought the quality
of the dresses was on par
with the pricetag.

the fabric and make
of my dresses
were about comparable
to the other dresses
i have of similar cost
in my closet.

they aren't ellen's
with generous designer fabric,
but i didn't find them to be
flimsy or shoddy either.

(please note: i have not yet
washed my dresses so i can't
say for the long-term wear.)

most importantly,
would i order from them again?

definitely
(it was fun)
and i support any company that believes this:

"One size does not fit all and all sizes are not created equal. For too long women have been forced to conform to standard sizing that too often doesn’t fit properly. At eShakti, a woman can shop for exactly what she wants - no compromise, no premium to pay. She can ask for the fabric, color, body, styling and sizing that she likes. Never again will a woman have to hear that her size is not available."

we're also trying out their affiliate program,
from now until july 31st
you can shop at eShakti

shabby apple swimsuit giveaway

over the weekend
my sister in law
megan took time
to read all the comments in the
last shabby apple swimsuitgiveaway contest
and picked us a winner.

this swimsuit is going out to
candace via hayley
hayley's blog
is called
crappy cancer
which chronicles the brave battle her husband
has been fighting with kidney cancer.

hayley's friend candace was just diagnosed:

I would really, really love this and my summer plans are quite pathetic. I'm doing nothing! But I'd rather win this for my best friend Candace who found out yesterday (after a first surgery) that she has cancer and has to go in for another surgery and begin treatments. This makes her summer start off on quite a crappy way! She deserves a cute suit so she can celebrate in the sun when she is done!

get well candace,
and travis.

thank you hayley
megan
and shabby apple swimsuits!

sister in law week: megan (plus a giveaway!)

I have been a fan of Shabby Apple's clothes for several years. Their clothes are absolutely beautiful. I especially love the unique prints of their dresses for little girls. I was excited to find out they have started a swimsuit line. Have you seen their swimsuits? They are unique, flirty, and feminine. I have the Baudin Beach Halter and the Bondi Beach Bikini bottom, both in black:

I love this swimsuit! With four kids, I need a swimsuit that is both functional and slimming. Both pieces are made out of a nylon-spandex blend providing mobility, support, and comfort. The rosette on the top is understated and elegant and the neckline is not too low. The length of the top is perfect- provides adequate coverage. The cut on the bottoms is modest and flattering. I love the ruching on the sides. Both pieces fit true to size. Now I just need my husband Andrew to take me somewhere fun to wear my new suit!

Shabby Apple has generously offered to giveaway one of their amazing swimsuits to a lucky Cjane reader. I think the reader with the least exciting summer plans deserves a new swimsuit.

  • You have until Tuesday July 6th midnight mdt to enter.
  • Enter in the comments section.
  • Megan will pick one winner (or loser, depends on how pathetic your summer plans).
  • Good luck!

sister in law week: suzanne

I like to ask myself, "What do I know that could help someone else?" Today the answer to that question is, "RideMax."

RideMax is what you'll need if you happen to be going to Disneyland (you lucky dog you). RideMax is a planning software that completely maps out your day at Disneyland. It just so happens to know when rides are the busiest, which way to turn in line for the shortest wait time, which seat will give you the most optimal ride, and how to use a fast pass most efficiently.

We used RideMax last spring and were blown away by how well it worked. You've heard of laughing all the way to the bank? Well we didn't do that, but we did laugh all the way to the front of almost every line. And lets face it, you're going to be paying $15 for a bottle of water at Disneyland so why not ante up $15 for something that will really keep you refreshed. And if for some crazy reason you're disappointed because you really like spending hours in line with toddlers and foreigners, simply let RideMax know of your displeasure and they'll refund your $15 faster than you can say "Mickey Mouse."

One more thing, if you've got extra room in your car - call me - I'm available!
