October's Motherlode

1. A set of three Indestructibles books--winners choice! The book inspired by babies, for babies with magnificent vivid illustrations!
2. A first year set of onesies (twelve onesies total) in either "boy", "girl", or "neutral";  or, choose any three t-shirts from Lulu & Jack. Who doesn't love onesies? They are my favorite thing.
3. Sarah Sample, an album on constant repeat around here (even listening to it RIGHT NOW). I want you to have this cd--so I am giving away ONE SIGNED CD! (If you don't win this album here, I think you should buy it and pretend I bought it for you. Ok?)
4. Two NewTree Dark Milk 51% Cocoa bars--dark milk chocolate with pure natural vanilla from Belgium. One for you, one to share.
5. One gorgeous print of J. Kirk Richard's Mother and Child and one package of Christmas cards with the same print. I am so excited to have this in the Motherlode I can't stand it. See more about this painting here and here. THANK YOU KIRK!
6. My hero Whitney is throwing in one custom-made vintage baby quilt from her Pretty Swank Etsy shop. Yes, this is worth about $80.00 and she's just giving it away. We love the quilt she made for Ever . . . actually, love is an understatement.
7. I handmade my own Basa Body products when visiting the HQ last week. I have three Citrus Splash Scent Lotions and three Basa Body Sticks ready to give away to the lucky winner. Remember: I made them with love, a lot of love, maybe too much love? No, just the right amount.
8. One Half Tee of your choice. And you can't go wrong because Half Tees are like your best friend. Only better because the don't get jealous of your awesome hair.
9. One yellow striped bow bag from Freshly Picked. I think we picked the last one for this giveaway. I use my own yellow striped bag daily, hourly, minute-ly. I LOVE FRESHLY PICKED!

OK, you want in right?

Oh goodness! I'm overwhelmed by this motherload, it's all so wonderful. But I have to tell you, I ADORE miss Sarah Sample. My husband and I saw her three years ago in Logan and it's been love ever since.
This is not very profound or anything but I love the food october brings. I feel like it's time to bake.

October in Texas means nights cool enough to open windows and let fresh air in. I love waking up to a cool bedroom, even if it's 90 degrees by 5:00.

This has been a very stressful month for us, but it's (almost) made better by my baby starting to smile at us.

As a general rule, I don't like October. I've had some crappy things happen this month, the transmission gave out, $1800 to fix it, and then the battery died two days later. Our power was turned off for a day, too. But in the middle of all this, I had someone surprise me. They generously offered to sponser me so I could participate in a fundraiser and a Chiefs half-time show at Arrowhead stadium. (Holy cow, I was on the field!) All the proceeds went to the Susan G. Komen breastcancer foundation. I had a blast, and it felt good to know that we were helping, if only just a little. After all, it's hard to feel sorry for yourself if you are focused on helping others. :)

This month I loved the visit from my brother and his wife. Now that my younger siblings are growing up and finishing college, we're bonding in all new ways. We had such a great time!

Plus, I love that my husband is employed again. I can start planning Christmas for my boys!

I love the front room over at my parent's house this time of year. They have a beautiful tree that sits right in front of their window. This time of year the tree turns a vibrant golden color. When we go over to visit in the late afternoon I can count on the sun filtering in through the window, the room looks like it belongs in Versailles---everything is golden.

I love watching the classic scarrrrry movies in OCTOBER. . . last night we got onto Netflix and ordered the 1950's Dracula! What a true classic! I was completely intrigued and excited, anticipating the horror as the camera men zoomed into to the title of the MOVIE, DRACULA, on the black and white coffin and than all you see is bright red blood (IT was a fabulous one of the best renditions) . . . tonight it will be the classic FRANKENSTEIN

This October has been especially wonderful (Octobers, in general, rank right up there as one of my favorite months...LOVE fall!)...but this year, it's been GREAT...the 'too cool' weather held off here in Wisconsin long enough to allow us and our kids to carve pumpkins outside (that's, like, unheard of)!! in t-shirts, no less!! It was so wonderful to be able to make whatever mess we wanted and not have to worry about cleaning up afterwards! Also this month, I've thoroughly enjoyed our kids feeling Baby #3 (due in Jan) moving in my tummy...the look of awe and delight in their faces each time Baby kicked/wiggled/hiccuped...ahhh, it's magical!

It is going to sound cheesy... but I had to give a talk in church last about LOVE and the love that our Heavenly Father has for us. We've had trial after trial after trial for the past three months (husband lost his job the week before we bought our first home, I had a ministroke and then had to have heart surgery, my grandmother passed away unexpectedly, husband lost second job, husband tears his knee and has to have surgery- see, not exaggerating!:) and in preparing and giving my talk, I was able to realize all of the blessings that come through trials and how Heavenly Father knows and truly loves each and every one of us. Yeah, I'd say that was the highlight of my October! That, or making scrumptous "apple pie cake". :)

Thanks for writing such an incredible blog! I look forward to reading it every morning!

What a fantastic give-a-way!

My favortie thing about this October 2010...picking just one thing is so hard. October is my favorite month!

So I'll go with the "right now". Right now I am sitting at my kitchen table, reading your blog (cjane gave me the willies this morning) and listening as a hard, fast wind snaps the remaining leaves off the trees and sends them swirling to the ground, where we will rake them up to only throw them all over the place again!

Happy October Courtney!

October 2010 has brought my first wedding anniversary with my husband and a beautiful, romantic trip to Washington, DC to celebrate. There's no question that this was one of the things I've loved this month!

The thing I'm going to love about November 2010 is winning this giveaway. ;)

Yesterday I was driving through the streets of our little town in NC, and marveling at the stunning beauty this month brings. The rain had finally moved on, leaving in it's place, with the setting sun, a magnificent view of pink and purple clouds, mist in the mountains, brilliant oranges, deep greens, reds, yellows...I was thinking that this must surely be what heaven is like. Then my littlest piped up with, "MOMMY I'M HUUUUUNGRY!!" Sigh. October is also a symbol of rebirth for me. Five years ago this month my marriage almost completely dissolved. We made it through a very dark time, and came out ahead and stronger. Astonishing us both. So, yes, October is a very symbolic month for me, and one of reflection.

Thanks for the opportunity to enter this fabulous giveaway.

when you said what's your favorite part about october, i took it to mean, what is your favorite part about CJane in this october of 2010. so, my favorite post from october has got to be the 'heirlooms' one, hands down. maybe b/c i have the exact same thoughts as a mother. i was always the 'ultimate' babysitter... loved all babies and children... always patient... creative with crafts... organized... etc. and then i became a mother. wham... bam... not so easy as it looked. it's been tough. yes, there are millions of tiny, beautiful moments that make my heart swell... and there's also thousands of moments that i'm not so proud of (yelling at my kids!! ack!!). but in between all the good and all the bad, i know that i'm transforming into the woman God wants me to be. and that is exciting. and with His grace i can start each day anew. so thanks for that post!

now pick ME to win!!! ;)

This October I have loved the fact that my grown up son, who hasn't been home in over a year, came home. He has been away at music school and while he was home gave us a personal concert. I am not normally a fall person, but this month did have gorgeous weather! So pleasant and so beautiful to spend many of my afternoons outdoors with my little girlies! Plus it has Halloween so October can't go wrong!!
Oh: PICK ME!!!!

I spent almost the entire month staring at my 4 year old daughter and tripping over almost everything because I couldn't believe she is 4... I've been a mom for 4 years... SHOCK! That we survived the first difficult parts amazes me and has made me smile permanently :)

I love that October was not as busy as September. That seems so simple but truly, September was a beast and October has been a nice stroll. I am less hurried, more patient, and able to enjoy the days a little bit more. I get to go somewhere because I want to and not because I have to. Gotta love that!

Hot Dog! I'm so excited! I'd love to win every single one of these items, except the Sarah Sample CD, because I already bought it the first time you posted about it! I love it, and yes, she did make me cry. Twice.

My favorite thing about October is everything. But probably my very favorite thing is costume parties!

Thanks!

October, in the lovely state of Arizona, out in the rural-ish city of Queen Creek (which is really a suburb of Mesa) is the month that we start to breathe cool, refreshing air again. Our mornings have been delightfully cool (if you call 60 degrees cool), and the evenings contain a breeze, just enough to signal...Fall has arrived. My favorite thing about this particular October and our arrival of fall? General Conference...listening to the words of our prophet and apostles, and the chance I had to once again, reflect on my blessings...I am truly, abundantly blessed. October is a good time to remember that! Thanks for the Motherlode giveaway!

wow - that is truly an awesome motherlode! the best part of october has been my almost 2-yr-old "smiling like a jack-o-lantern" all month

Natierae said...

My favorite this about this month has been throwing caution to the wind and, dare I say, "indulging" in Holiday treats. October seems to be the month that the baking commences and the waist line expands (secretly I dont care though this year, because I'm expecting baby #5).

Heather said...

Ok so I really never enter blog giveaways because honestly who can suffer through the suspense of knowing if you will win and then having to reassure yourself that you still ARE a good person even if random number generator thinger doesn't think so....so yeah.....

BUT....October has been magical around here, we started with my bebe's one year old monster birthday party (and YES you are right it was YESTERDAY that I birthed him) and are ending it with my oldest being baptized, holy strange mothering experience.....getting another human being ready to make a commitment that lasts through the eternities has been daunting....but our Heavenly Father has been kind.......and Sarah Sample basically rocks my socks.

the end.

You weren't lying when you said motherlode were you?? I have loved everything about this October. We moved to Utah from Canada for a few months and are really trying to enjoy every moment of our experience here. I loved the amazingly warm weather at the beginning of October, and then the moment that you knew it was fall... I love it. Oh- and my most favorite moment of all- Attending the rooftop concert series with my husband and 2 kids. That night was perfect and amazing....

Raking the leaves in my yard into piles for my children to jump in and then watching as they bury themselves and emerge as "Scary Leaf Monsters - AHHHH!" and chase me around the yard. It's been a beautiful month!

Oh the motherload of motherloads!
October will always be special to me as it bears the birthdays of three of my most favorite people; my loving husband, my first born son and my best friend. But we had a few somethings extra-special to celebrate this October 2010 - news that our little girl on the way probably does not have a fatal chromosomal disorder as indicated by early tests and our strengthened faith that God will bring us through anything.

Can I tell 3 things I've loved? Hobble Creek, Rock Canyon, Stuart Falls.

I loved driving through that Alpine loop with my husband and daughter, to watch the leaves change. We would start on the American Fork side, and come down again by Sundance. Then we would go to J Dawgs and get the most delicious hot dogs the world has known:)

My favorite things about this month were 1. My hubby FINALLY got a job after being out of work for over a year and a half (crosses fingers that it goes beyond temporary*) and 2. the fact that for the last 2 1/2 weeks I have been able to keep my house open and not have the AC on :)
WOOT for FALL!

Sitting at the finish line of the half-marathon with my husband and kids - ages 4, 2, and 8 months. It was my husband's first half, my third, and he finished before me. But he told our oldest son, "This was really hard, Max, no matter what Mom says." He made me feel hard-core and I liked it. He also made me seem tough to our son who is much more easily impressed with Dad these days. It was a sweet moment. I love my little family!

This may be blasphemous to those who love fall (I am one of them...) but my over-heated-preggy-body *loved* the snow Utah Valley got yesterday. I was very sad when it melted...

The best thing I love about October is the change in weather - I love that it's cool enough to play outside with the kids, even pull out the sweaters and hot chocolate.

One thing I love about this month is that it has been cool enough so that snuggling (either with my husband or my dogs or just with a big ol' blanket) is very pleasant but it is not so cold that I feel like I have to be bundled up every second.

I have been depressed since May when I lost my teaching job and it seemed like I couldn't move on with my life. But in October, I finally got my old self back! All of the different remedies I had been working on--service, prayer, scriptures, exercise--plus the excitement of the holidays has me back on track...finally! I have been coming up with fun sewing projects with material I have on hand and using my time to do the little things I couln't do while busy with my teaching job. Yea October, yea Holidays! Life is good again!

Best thing about October? This one is easy. October 3rd my little girl was born... 8 years ago. I identify with your post a few days ago. Really? Has it been 8years? I will wake up tomorrow and she will be 16 and the day after that 24... Okay. I am misty eyed now... sheesh. I hope I win... and not to be greedy but specifically the mother and child painting. I really want that. I am not ashamed to say it... have a great November CJane (and don't blink... she will be 8).

By the end of October 2010 I finally felt like everyone in my family was in a good place, the place they are meant to be right now. Too many "things" to tell with a family of this size; but I'm sure you can appreciate that it's no easy feat to feel that we are all, all eleven of us, in a good spot. I can't tell you what a relief it is, finally.

That said, October 2010 is the bees knees and I am celebrating! and it's gorgeous in my little corner of Canada.

p.s. love your motherlode

Maybe I'm not a typical woman, but one of the things I love about October is college football! And even though I love sports, I still love all things girly (like the wonderful items in the motherload!)

Oh my! Motherlode indeed. First, to confirm, I am not imaginary, and second, October is by far my most favorite month of all. Too hard to pick my favorite moment. They are all so wonderful, but the one thing I am most proud of is making my daughter's Halloween costume look exactly like the store bought version and in her opinion, way better. That's good times right there.

My favorite thing about October this year has been daydreaming with the kids about WHAT they will dress up as this year for Halloween. They are growing up and coming up with their own ideas now!

I also love the Libby's Pumpkin Bread kits at Costco. Yum!

The tree out front of my house starts turning color in October. By the end of the month it is flaming red. The kind of red that makes you welcome the day as it reflects through the windows in the sunshine. The kind of red that pops against a gray sky. I love October even though it inevitably ends up being a little messy..ok alot messy, cleaning up the leaves and all..love it anyway!

this month is as special to me as those new pretzel m&ms (seriously, have you tried them yet?!). it is the month in which the rest of my life began. i had a hard time believing it would happen, but this month brought the man that will be a husband to me and a father to my future children. how do i know? because he loves the icky bits of me even more than the beautiful ones. and i can't get enough of him. thank you, october.

My favorite thing about October 2010 has been a much awaited for answer to prayer. Fall festivals and homemade caramel apples have added variety and fun, but a knowledge that Heavenly Father knows me and blesses me has overshadowed anything else that has happened this month.

The best thing about this month has been repeating the yearly cycle of cutting my hair off-- short, long, short, long. Back to short and loving it!!!

This has been the best. month. ever. And you find yourself asking why? Because I had a baby 11 days ago. My first baby. The most beautiful little boy ever. And for the past 11 days I have cried everytime I've looked at him because he is so beautiful. And although we live in Texas now and fall weather is still months away, I love this month.

You might think the highlight of this month was turning 29 a few days ago...but nope. After years of trying to have a biological baby, we were told that it most likely would never happen that way. So this month has given birth to a new dream...adoption. And October has brought such relief and release as we look forward to the adventure to come!

Even though I spent most of the month of October puking 3-6 times a day in first-trimester pregnancy woes, October has been great because I made it past 9 weeks (which I did not last time), and I turned 23. I would love to win this motherlode!

A Motherlode indeed!
I have loved October 2010 because my oldest is finally enjoying kindergarten and turns 6 the 29th!
I so need to win this ... I've convinced my husband (after months of hard work) that we need to have just 1 more little one. Those onesies are perfect!

The best thing about this month has yet to come! I am so excited for the Trunk-or-treat this year! My kids are finally old enough to pick their costumes, Belle (beauty and the beast) and Rich (Imagination Movers!) I made them and I can't wait to see their faces when they put them on and get to load up on candy!!

Krystal said...

I just love your generousity and all your blogs. I would so love to win this, but as to your one thing I can't pick just one. You see, i have two of my lit'l darlings of seven, who each have birthdays and they are only 3 days apart. They are all special to me, but these 2 both came at very hard times for our family. My Laney came 2 months after our oldest son was diagnosed with cancer and my Logan came 8 months after that same son passed away, So, my favorite thing about october is celebrating these 2 wonderful, heavenly gifts.

I love the fall. I am from Connecticut, but now I live in Vegas. Around this time, I get so homesick. I miss the leaves and the smell of my hometown. My hometown is an apple orhard town. As I right this I can smell the cider mills making cider!!! Cider donuts, smell of the leaves, the crunch of the leaves under my feet, and the pumpkins!!!! Fall is the best time of year. Do I miss raking those leaves????? No!

My Favorite Things About October 2010:
1. My husband and I took a Saturday to be giddy, giggly and gushy with a new photographer following us around to capture the moments. The pictures are priceless.
2. My husband and I took a stand against abortion on the Pro-life Day of Silent Solidarity by wearing red duck tape and pro-life t-shirts.
3. The Clotheshorse (consignment shop). I got two dresses, one top and one jacket. It's only my second time to have gone. My husband took me both times. :)
4. We are going to see WICKED, the Broadway musical tomorrow night!
5. Finally, the changes of the season.

The best part of October 2010 are the piles of leaves likes snowdrifts in my driveway. Every night when I get home, I have to "plow" through them. Every morning, my daughter kicks a path through them to the bus stop, and I have to "scoop" them out of the entryway so they don't blow into my foyer. I'm going to miss their beautiful colors and crackling under our footsteps!

Oh, and I also Love buying TONS of Halloween candy the day after Halloween. I guess that is technically not October anymore though but I look forward to that all month long!

At the beginning of October is was 115 degrees here in Southern CA. Now, it is a lovely 75 and we even had four days of rain last week. Ahhh...the heat of summer has passed and the cooler temps of the holidays are a-coming. Something else that I've loved about October--my two year old boy is all about snuggling me lately. I think he's teething, but I'll take the snuggles nonetheless.
