I found this question today about Basa Body lotion:
"so, I really want to try the lotion, but I want to make sure I buy the one that smells like coconut. Is it the Unscented or the Citrus Scent? That seems like such a silly question, but I'm just confused. "
Basa has two lotions, one is scented with citrus--the Citrus Splash Scent (which Chup prefers I wear) and the other is the All Natural Virgin Coconut Lotion--made with pure coconut oil (which I prefer). It's technically unscented, but still smells like pure coconut. So, the answer = Unscented for the coconut smell.
I know all this because I actually went to the Basa Body HQ and helped make the products. Yes, I am serious. I went and put on an apron and discovered all their secrets to making really lovely coconut oil products. I thought about the Coast Coconut Farm women as I scooped huge mounds of their hand-pressed oil into the massive mixing bowls.
And I produced about fifty Basa Body Sticks. Is this making you jealous? I will stop.
But wait, I can't stop. I can't stop because I have a major announcement:
AHEM,
(From Basa Body HQ)
Basa Body is sending c jane to Kenya next year.

OMGoodness! That is so awesome, Mrs. CJane!
Wow, I would love to enter - but I don't fly. It's bad for the environment. I can take a train and meet you there?
I have 5 kids, 3 by the time I was 22. I have NEVER left them for more than a day and at 35 years old (barely) I would LOVe to win a trip to Kenya. I always have wished that I had gone on a mission. It would be wonderful. I will stay tuned for the details!
Ps- I just found out that a dear sister in our ward is your aunt. Kim Church! Small world! I have known her for over 20 years. A sweet sweet woman!
I was soooo hoping you would bring someone along with you -- can't wait to hear the details
Jennie you don't fly? Because it's bad for the environment? I didn't know people really did that. There's a beautiful world out there to see...I guess you could hop a freighter to Kenya, they let people do that, but I don't see how that would be better for the environment...hmm...I can't say I would ever miss out on seeing this amazing world just so I wasn't one more person on an fueled airplane.
That is SO awesome....wonder what the chances of you bringing a mom of 9 kids from Canada along with you are :)
I look forward to reading more about this...such a blessing. really.
Who wouldn't like to accompany you on this trip? There are so many wonderful facets to this opportunity, and I'm sure that you'll shine the light through each and every one of them. Can't wait to hear about the details.
SERIOUSLY?!?!?!??! I would love to go. And I know you would let me go even though I am Canadian. Because you have a soft spot in your heart for Canadians. Or at least you better! (Trust me, if you could have spent the last few days with my "Angels" , man that term is used SO loosely right now) you would just say, "This woman needs a break! I will just give it to her. She is desperate.
Good for the clarification on scents. Peeps like me can be a bit sensitive. Coconut one is for me! Thanks for the opportunity to even go! for real?
(I cannot promise I would not come home though without 25 other kids!)
That was my question! Thanks so much for answering! I can't wait to try the lotion and other products! I guess it wasn't a silly question after all!
I do, I do! I believe you will get hundreds of deserving responses to this, and I think it's a true reflection of the caliber of your readership. (just had to go to dictionary.com and make sure readership was a real word and not something my mind conjured up in this Halloween week of pirates and all..)
Anyway, good on you and count me in.
It would be a dream come true to go to Africa! I never win anything, but you can be sure I'll be entering to at least TRY to win that trip!
That would be the coolest thing ever! Can't wait to hear about the details.
Oh man, 2 GREAT things in this post. Thanks for the lovely hook-up and I'll def. be waiting to hear the details of the trip. Oh to go to Africa and see all the amazing things and people would be a DREAM!
So exciting! Question: how do we get the wholesale deal of half off? I've added 12 of each to my cart and don't know how to get the price to drop.
Oh, honey. I am packing right now. What do I have to do to win that golden ticket, CJane? I will overdo it. I will do it in spades. I will do it privately. I will do it in neon. First of all, it would be fab traveling with you. Secondly, I want to dance with those amazing women. Thirdly, Kenya. Fourthly, Kenya. Fifthly, who knows—a Kenyan baby? (I know that one's a long shot, but it did occur to me.)
that's amazing! can't wait to hear the deets.
LOVE their products so far :) Used your code the first day and got a pack of body sticks and the lotion. Hubs has been using lotion on his poor feet ( on them all day ) and has noticed amazing difference, and I have used the stick on my ever growing belly ( baby due dec 9 ) and it feels all nice and soft and will hopefully stop stretching ;)
Thanks so much!
GL to all who enter to go to Kenya, I will not be one, with a new baby due soon and still pretty little next year, no way jose :)

Going to Africa and to play with more Basa yumminess? Onmygoodness. That's a whole lot of happiness.
(By the way, I'd love to go.)

Ummm I want to go i want to go i want to go i want to go.
I spent a month in africa this summer and plan on doing the peace corps in two years when i graduate.
pick me pick me pick me.
Again, I'm determined to be chosen. I care about Africa more than anyone. Specifically sub-Saharan Africa and Kenya after I met a woman in Mozambique who served her two year mission for the LDS church in Kenya. Bah!
Oooh Me, pick me. I'll even go via redneck sling shot. (Well--not really that desperate.) :)
Dear Ms. CourtneyJane,
I would like to inform you that I would love love love to be a part of this and be able to go to Kenya with you to meet these wonderful ladies! It is on my bucket list to visit another country. Africa would be preferred. My name is Jordan, I am a single 20 year old nanny in DC, but moving back to Utah in the beginning of 2011. So far, I've accomplished a lot in my young life as far as traveling goes, but haven't gotten to travel outside the US yet. This would be the opportunity of a lifetime and I would love you forever if I was able to go. Please tell me what I need to do to be able to be a part of this wonderfully amazing trip with you! Love, Jordan
Um, will it increase my chances if I tell you how in love with coconut oil that I am. I discovered it about 9 months ago and I use it for everything!!! It is amazing!!! And Africa? Hello, who doesn't want to go there and see the good work that Basa Body has done for the women there and lend a hand too!
I am going to add a comment expressing my desire to get in on this trip action, but its really to just trick my body into getting pregnant, which would happen right away to ruin any chance I had of actually going.
No worries dude, just let me know when we leave.
I totally want to go to Kenya with you. For reals.
Seriously?! I would LOvE to go. Just let me know where and when!
KENYA! Like for seriously? Im totally jell, And totally want to go.
OH OH OH, if I could go to Kenya I would just die! Of course then I wouldn't be any help at all! When I read that I hyperventilated for a moment and then stopped breathing. Seriously. But I promise I will have all my faculties together if I can join you! OH OH OH...I have two kids a little older than your, Ben and Jake...they could hang while we make butters and lotions and pretend we are beautiful african woman and we can sing Mindy songs...see it's like we are already there...fun right?! Exept I live in Canada...so I guess we could meet in Africa? Or I could come to your house and sleep in your guestroom and then we could fly together (I will leave my kids with my husband...I wouldn't stress Chup out that much) oh that is very forward of me isn't it? I am sorry (see...Canadian...) but I get rambly when I am nervous, or excited. How bout we just skip the whole contest and let me come, or you could make the contest who is the most desperate to come with you and then I could win that. For sure.
Too funny... my 4-year-old son, Henry, and I were just talking about Africa yesterday before I saw this post. He wants to go to 'Asika' with me and see the lions and tigers and flamingos.
Of course I want to come.
That would be me, sitting the back row, wildly raising my hand, hoping you'll notice me.
I think we'd travel well together, too. We'd make each other laugh during the longer more arduous times (flights, etc) and do good work while we were there, in Kenya, witnessing the operation. Also, I can document it with pictures because I'll be bringing my cameras.
I can't make it the weekend of February 19, as my daughter's Odyssey of the Mind team competes regionally that day. Otherwise, I'm ready, girl!
Cjane - you are the new Oprah .
Winnig a trip would be lovely. But I would save up and pay to go!!! I have been wanting to do a wondeful and meaning trip like this for years. With this dry winter air turning me into a rough skinned animal I need some yummy Basa. And the cause it goes to makes it even better. :)
Let's go to Kenya together. It'd be beyond rad. And a half. Plus more.
