I can't believe Courtney asked me to do a guest blog! I mean, I really can't believe it because if you read her blog, you know that the sisters are the major players here, the brothers get some mention, and the sister in-laws (I majored in English, which prohibits me, by law, to omit hyphens) are mentioned in passing in a faint scent of a whisper way. You know, we might get caught in a picture because we're holding a cute baby or because we're standing behind Courtney. But I'm not bitter, even if I sound like I am, because it makes us all seem really mysterious, which I like.
And then I found out that it wasn't for her blog, it was for the other side blog, which made more sense.
The thing Courtney doesn't know (keep in mind, I'm very mysterious, so it's not her fault for not knowing), I don't like to push products I'm not getting paid for. As a teen, my father, the vivacious Robert Valentine abhorred us wearing t-shirts advertising stores like "Gap" or "Forenza" when I was little because it was just "free advertising" for some big company. So, you see, I carry that with me today which makes me reluctant to name a product without getting some sort of up front compensation. (Does that make me sound even more mysterious, or just poor?)

But here are some products that I really, really like and think you should buy even though I'm not getting paid to tell you. Because this is my chance. My one and only chance to post something on Courtney's blog, and I don't want to blow it (Maybe I already have. I'm sure this is too long already. Getting less and less mysterious by each. . . passing. . . word. . .)
1. I always visit this site when I want to know what to expect when I'm expecting to go to a movie. Eric D. Snider is funny and clever. AND IT'S FREE!
2. I am addicted to lipstick and never go without it. Here's a great neutral, if you're into that: It's Loreal "Silk" (best value for the tube). Me? I'm into every color ("Mica," "Mystic Mauve," and "Naked Ambition" are my go-to shades) of lipstick. I'm addicted. But I know that you're not, and that's okay, too. It's a great lipstick that doesn't feel too gloopy, which I'm told is one reason some people shy away from lipstick in favor for lipgloss. And it's reasonably priced so you don't have to feel guilty about buying more.
3. I think you should listen to Joshua James and buy his album on itunes. He's so cute and I used to babysit him in Nebraska which is weird. He's a Provo boy now, too! Which, technically, means I could post this on Courtney's other other side blog about Provo, too! And soon, sometime in the future, I might make it on the main blog. But I don't want to jinx it by writing it down! But I might as well dream big!
My name is Lisa and I'm Almost Famous.
i am c jane and lisa is so mysterious

Dear Lisa,
More than anything, I want you to come help me organize my uhm...my everything.
And yes, I carry at least a half dozen lipsticks everywhere I go, because it just seems like you've given me permission to love lipstick.
I can't really wear neutral lipstick because my lips are naturally the color of cherries, but a girl can (and does) dream . . . thanks for the post, it was terrific. There are lots of stunning shades of lipstick on that site and Eric Snider is now bookmarked! :)
I know! Azucar why don't you just marry Lisa?
Oh my word! :)
Random funny connection: my husband took a few Spanish classes from your dad, "Bobcito" Valentine, at BYU a few years ago! He loves Bobcito :) He still talks about those Spanish classes and the stories your dad told.
So cool. :)
What? I thought I knew everything about Robert Valentine and now I learn he is Bobcito?
Wow, I love that skirt! Where did you get it?
Downeast Outfitters, thanks for asking.
Azucar, you'll be happy to know that I took 6 lipsticks to girls camp, and I really thought I was roughing it.
CJane, I DID write for your main blog! My bad. In my defense, I've had five babies which has negatively affected my short and long term memory. I know you'll understand.
I think Robert may only be "Bobcito" when he wears the black beret (which is all the time. . .)
Lisa, I'm so glad you still are "besties" with me even though I'm not a lipstick girl. . .although I'm 36 now and realizing I need a little something more than mascara and blush these days. Loreal here I come!
I hate to be this guy and all, but wouldn't an actual English major know that it is Sisters-In-Law and not Sister-In-Laws? I'm gonna need to see that diploma.
You forgot to mention how good L'Oreal lipsticks smell. (Or is that just me?)
junioraudio, you have to keep in mind that I've had all those five kids which have all but mentally negated my degree. Well, enough that I "try," but I don't try that hard. It's about lowering the bar now.
I LOVE Eric D Snider's column. I read him at BYU and at the Herald. Glad to see someone else is a fan!
Forenza!! Ohhhhh..I loved their clothing when I was a geeky teenager! I owned the best sweater from that store. But now you have made me feel old..I shall now run out and buy some lipstick! :)
I love those shades of L'Oreal and thought I was the only one who wore them. I must check out the new shade you posted. Naked Ambition and Mystic Mauve are my go to shades. :-) I will check out Eric Snider, too. Thanks for posting Lisa. :-)

Eric Snider served in the same mission as me. He was funny then and is hilarious now. And he is the best movie critic out there. I went back and read your post on THE blog and it was excellent. Thank you for writing that. And this post was very witty--which is what you and Topher and all the rest of you seem to specialize in. In fact, I think I have to go over and read a bit on your blog now. :)
I hate to be "that guy" but Lisa is probably my favorite person. In the world.
Lisa you are an amazing writer and so mysterious! I have some chocolate for you if I ever track you down :)
Power to the sister in-laws! What a fun post! Thanks for the fashion tips.
Great post. Reading this made me miss you, miss the Valrntine family and especially miss one Eric DSnider ( who tried but was never REALLY able to replace me-- but he did look better in gold sparkles). Also, remember how you were also Gabby's very first guest poster (Design Mom) and that was one of the first blogs to do the whole guest poster/ give away thing..... So again Lisa leads the awesome ( and it is one more reason you are almost famous. :-).
Dear Mysterious Lisa,
I too love lipstick and am never without a dozen tubes in any purse, or jacket, or bookbag. I always wear it and feel naked without lipstick on. I am thrilled to meet another lipstick lover.

Your lips always do look great. True Fact.
Also, I am excited for Jooj to marry one of the Clarks so that I can do a second-cousin-mother-in-law guest post.
I looooove Joshua James!! "Lovers Without Love" is one of my favorites!
And I think I'll have to stalk your blog now too cuz you're funny....is that a prerequisite for being in the Clark family?!
Oh how I LOVED my Forenza oversized shirts and leggings. Worn with coordinating scunchy in my hair, of course.
Great - like I needed ONE more blog to become addicted to. Lisa you are hilarious. "Almost Famous" just became my new hang out :) Feel free to come check out what is going on in our lives .. altho I am in no way as mysterious as you!

I just had a baby - Kate - born a few weeks before Ever. Pretty sure Kate and Ever would become BFFs if they ever met.
You used to babysit Joshua James?
I'm friends with his little sister Ashley, they're in my stake!
I live in Nebraska city. :)
Lisa, I remember your post on progress and perspective from the MAIN blog, and though I never took the time to tell you then, I wanted to let you know that that post, more than anything else I've read on cjane (sorry cjane! love you too!), has stayed with me since I read it. It was paradigm-altering. Honestly. And you just don't get much of that out there on The Internets. So thanks.
LOVE..LOVE
Joshua James!!!
The only thing cuter than him is his wife Emily!
I agree...EVERYONE should listen and buy his music. He's the BOMB-DOT-COM
