. . . a new family game?

about a month or so
i was sent a game in the mail
the game was called
sedarahc
which, for the non-einsteins in the crowd
is charades backwards.

i was thinking tonight would be lovely
to invite fun people over to play it with me.
so i called up the funnest people i know:
my teenage nieces and nephews.
i also invited my mother because
she is always up for a good time
(she also taught me that funnest isn't a word)

later on in the evening
other family members stopped in
and we invited them to play too.
so right off the top
i am telling you
sedarahc is a family game.

here were our players:

us clarks are a fun family,
but we aren't the most brilliant
fortunately sedarahc has very few instructions
and is non-complicated
easy for a set like us.

basically, it really is a backwards game of charades
where one person guesses while team members
act out words,
except the words
are crazy.

like speed bump:

s'more:

rogaine:

pledge of allegiance:

your guess is as good as mine:

(did you guess speedos?
you are right.)

so here is my review:

    pros
high energy game for the family
perfect for this holiday season.
builds a healthy camaraderie

the kids loved it
and wanted to play a couple more rounds
(but it was a school night
so i sent them home
promising we'd play again soon).

cons
we had a few accidents
when the game became intense

and then,
of course there was that time when
olivia and i had to act out siamese twins
and i nearly lost the bladder control
(what else is new?)
from laughing uncontrollably.

in the end,
my bladder control test always has the last word

did i come close to peeing my pants while playing?
yes.
yes i did.
therefore,
two thumbs (plus one bladder) up for sedarahc!
it's nearly the funnest.

check it out here
for a limited time, there is a $5 holiday discount off of the regular price (from $24.99 to $19.99)
should you want to purchase you can do so here!
and extra cool is this:
when you buy sedarahc,
a portion of the price goes to bring fun to kids
and their families at children’s hospitals.

thanks scott!

What a fun review. I loved all the hilarious pictures. And I feel your pain on the bladder control issue--what is with that?! Is it so we can relate to our potty training children after having them or something? Sheesh!! :)

So glad to hear this! I just bought it last week for my sister-in-law's family of 8. I was a bit worried, but your hilarious pictures have put me at ease :)

And of course the next dear cjane request is... where did Lucy get those fabulous shoes and hose? Divine.

Looks like fun.

LOVE the fact a portion of the proceeds go towards kids and their families at Childrens' Hospitals.

The proceeds really make me want to get it, but seeing the pics of family playing it sealed the deal!

Great review and we are looking for a new family game to play when we are all together in March. Good idea and it just might work!

We played this game at Thanksgiving and I have to agree: Siamese twins is a bladder breaker.

Ah, I just caught this post and have to tell you how excited I am for that nephew of yours, VAN. He got some blog time!! On Aunt Courtney's blog! He has made it...BIG. No really, I follow your CJane blog (I'm Katy C.'s cousin). I was chatting about your witty self with Vanner one day and he expressed his life goal of getting his picture on your blog. I think this one counts :)

I ordered the game Sedarahc on December 14, 2009 after reading the post here. I was excited to see that the vendor shipped it that same day. Was hoping to receive it in time for Christmas, but would understand if it didn't make it. It's now been more than a month and I have not received the game, nor did the vendor provide a shipping tracking number so that I could track my package.

I decided to call the customer service line a few days ago but it was out of order. I also emailed the customer service email a couple days ago but have not received a response.

I would still very much like to receive the game, but if that is not possible I would like a full refund. I tried to contact the vendor myself in multiple ways and feel that I have no other alternative but to dispute the transaction through Paypal.

Just wondering if anyone else experienced problems with their order.

Just thought I'd update my situation for the benefit of anyone considering ordering this game. The vendor responded to me after I filed the dispute with Paypal and agreed to re-send another game since their chosen shipping method did not allow for them to track the first shipment. This was in mid-Jan.

The game arrived on Feb 3 but:
- had 12 bucks in duty owing (as the vendor declared the value to be more than twice what I paid for it)
- the plastic wrapping on both the game box and card packages inside the game were opened
- the cardboard elements in the box (e.g. card holders) were crushed and/or torn leading me to believe the package was used/returned... while not critical, I paid for a brand new game.

I emailed the vendor the day after the package arrived (Feb 4) to describe these issues and asked what, if any, restitution they could offer. I haven't heard back from the vendor nor do I expect to as the Paypal dispute closed automatically and I no longer have any recourse with them. (Paypal disputes close automatically after 20 days if you do not escalate the claim and cannot be re-opened; my closure date was Feb 4.)

I'm not claiming this experience to be typical, but just saying, be fairly warned. Courtney, I know you have no ability to assess the business practices of the vendors who send you products for review, but I thought you'd just want to know.
