. . . a winner? and another giveaway? why not?

chup and i were really struggling with naming the chief
and i wrote about it on my c jane blog one day.

incidentally, i liked the name roman,
but roman kendrick
sounds too much like roman catholic
which is fine,
but we're mormon.

so, in the comment section of my previously-mentioned post
a certain someone named jenny
revealed a large list of unusual names
her sister had gathered from being a school teacher
in rural idaho.

unbeknown to me,
chup read the jenny's suggestions
and wrote down a couple names he liked
miraculously, one of the names
from that very list
became the first one we could agree on.

and it stuck.
jenny helped us name the chief
and i've never been able to thank her for that.

imagine my surprise to see the very same jenny
pop back up in the comments
of this post too.

jenny, we are indebted to you
(to say the least)
you win this sweet album
(like angels in your stereo).

(and while you are at it,
will you email me
so i can thank you personally?)

and thanks to jennifer for the album contribution!

i had such a delightful time
reading all the names suggested
i thought why stop here?
why stop now?
let's do another giveaway!

indulge me, let's do girls names now.

winner gets this:

anchors away
from shabby apple
everyone's favorite online dress shop

according to me:
shabby apple has the best
selection of smartly-designed
whimsical, fun, flirty
modestly-minded
dresses anywhere.

worth your money.

but, someone won't have to pay money
cause i am all about giving this one away
for free.

who wants it?

girls names suggestion for
shabby apple anchors away dress
giveaway runs until sunday night
(nov. 15th)
midnight (mst)

Me and my husband love the beach in our state. Wilmington, NC, its the best place in the world, we went on our honeymoon there and my sweetie lived there up until we met :) Our names we have picked out for our future babys are as follows: boy: Wilmington Tide, Girl: Cape Tide. Yes we have gotten strange looks, but we love the beach! Cape stands for Cape Fear which is a river down near the coast. Now since those are taken :) you could always use Molly (so unique), Miranda, Sam, Millie or Hailey.

I know I'm late on the boy names, but one I LOVE (but my husband said an absolute, "No", to) is:

Israel-truly a powerful and wonderful name on so many levels-and I think it is fitting considering your struggles with fertility.

The girl name I love, I hold too close to my heart to share-I know, weird. But I will tell you a very close second is the name:

Rachel-I know, not very fancy and unique, but very feminine, righteous, patient and meaningful.

Jenevieve... isn't it beautiful! (my sister's name) and she is really cool! and she writes books- for children- And I think if I won I would give her the dress because after all... it is her name.

I think all the littlest members of the Clark family have the most awesome names, I find it hard to offer anything to compare! Here are my best attempts:
I love the name Isak, I taught gymnastics to a little girl named that and thought it beautiful..and of course the author makes it even better!
Tabatha

Layla

Courtney! I bless you with the best female name I have ever heard (and alas, it does not go well with my last name, so I hand it off to you): Naoma. I have a good friend whose great-grandmother was named Naoma, a beautiful variation of Naomi (incidentally, the nameholder was also beautiful, with good skin. Good skin's important, no?). Might that work well in a Mormon fam?

My daughters' names are Delaney and Emerson, and when I named them, there were virtually NO other Delaneys or Emersons around. I am horrified that Emerson is already in the comments...twice!!!

My next daughter (if I am so blessed)will be Karlisle, which goes great with Kendrick.

All of these names are sophisticated, yet they can have cute, girly nicknames (Laney, Emmy, Karly) depending on your little girl's personality.

Love them all, and honestly, not a week goes by in which SOMEONE doesn't compliment me on my choice of names!

Best of luck to you!

(And I LOVE Karly Kendrick!)

I worked in a school when I was pregnant, so all the names I loved had been taken. The meaning of names is really important to me, so after some research, I named my daughter Mikaiah (who is like God). (We pronounce it Mik-eye-uh.) In the Bible, it's spelled with a "c".

I think alliteration in a name is beautiful. I think older names are extremely popular and therefore, your child will likely be one of several in her class and forever known as "Olive K" or "Grace K" or "Sadie K" though I love those names, it was Jennifer and Dave when I was little and I always felt sorry for all those girls and guys.

Name suggestions? Sorry. I am not your gal. We debated over names my entire pregnancy. Finally, two days before our little lady showed up, we got desperate and started going through the list of characters in all my favorite movies. That is how we found our babe's name. It just fit. She wasn't a Scarlet, Sedona, Chambery, Elizabeth, Evalyn, Charity or anything else. She's herself. No other name would have set right.

I have a weird last name so I prefer "boring" first names. I just named my daughter Kate Eleanor and think it's perfect for her. Eleanor has lots of variants (like Nell, part of my mom's name) so I like that it's a little sentimental but still unique.

Felicity
Madelynn

Elise

Annabelle. I could totally picture you with an Annabelle. I don't know why. It just popped into my head!

I also agree with several others who have mentioned Kyla. That is the name I would like to name my first daughter (should I be blessed with one). Kyla Elaine, to be exact. The name Kyla means "lovely". And since you and Chup have created ONE lovely child, a lovely girl whose name means as much would be fitting. Don't you think? (oh, and the name Elaine means Light, so a Lovely Light would be shining within a daughter whose name means such!).
Whatever name you choose (male or female) I'm sure will be the perfect name for your child.
Good luck reading through over 100 suggestions! It's like having your very own baby naming book on your blog!

In my small-town class of 96 kids, we had the following girls: Anya, Oonie, Marianthe, Anthippy, Sunita, and Dierdre; it made Bellanne and Laada feel downright normal and set substitute teachers on edge. And for the first three decades of my life, my mother was the only Isabella I knew, so be sure you love the name and not the unusualness! Names are so funny. Finally, I found naming the second child harder because I had an idea of Just How Many Times A Day I would hear my own voice saying it! Blessings to you all!

aaahhh...it was just a few months ago that my hubby and I were sitting in the labor and delivery trying to decide on which name we would choose (because those endless nights of discussing our ever evolving lists had not done the trick!) We finally settled on
Adeline(it means noble)
I also like
Irene (Peace)
Kindia (it is a city in Guinea, West Africa, but has an absolutely beautiful ring)
Macy
Congratulations and happy name picking!!

I tried to post on the boy post but my iphone crashed. Just in case you are still undecided on boy names ...I love the name Soren. Who cares if some bad guy on Star Trek was named that...it rocks! For girl names I know you like "e" and that is absolutely lovely. I also love Grace, Ruby, and Sarah .

My little blondie is named Macy. It came to me in a dream. We were just holding this little baby and calling her "Macy." Her hair is so blonde that it is almost white at times and she has an adorable, spitfire personality to fit her name. I love her name more than words (which is huge for me). Although, occasionally, people say, "Oh, like the grocery store." My reply: "Well, we thought it was appropriate since she was conceived in the frozen food section."

My other girlie is Paige (but you already have one of those in your family).

Good luck!

As I grow older, I've become more attracted to simple names like Mary or Sarah. No crazy spelling or names that sound like they were made up. I like this advice: Name your baby for the woman she will become someday.

Here are some of the names from my list that I don't think have been mentioned yet: Abigail, Bailey, Britta, Gillian, Gretta, Ingrid, Mallory, Marlow, Maura, Meridith, Nedra, Noelle, Robin, Simone, Winifred.

Good luck!
