from time to time
i get requests about recipes for this blog
but for some reason,
i am always shy about sharing them.
because one time i shared a mac and cheese recipe
and my friend tried it and returned to say
it was artery clogging.
yikes.
but here is a recipe i have been making
because
i have a s'more obsession
(not even one i can joke about)
(i have to have one almost daily)
(i am not joking)
s'more bars:
(no roasting marshmallows necessary)
4 cups of smashed graham crackers
bag of chocolate chips (we use semi-sweet, but do your thang)
bag of mini marshmallows
a half cup of melted butter
enough sugar to sprinkle generously
preheat oven to 350
grease a 9x13 pan
take two cups of graham cracker smashings
mix with half your butter
press them on the bottom of the pan
and sprinkle with sugar.
now, take those chocolate chips
and toss them on top of the smashings
until it forms a new layer of chocolate
still with me?
take your marshmallows
and drop them on top of the chocolate
until your pan is white with marshmallows.
now, repeat step one
take two cups of graham cracker smashings
mix with butter
sprinkle on top of marshmallows
and drizzle with sugar.
put in oven for 10 minutes
cool.
serve.
cool.
p.s. for graham crackers i like honey maid
semi sweet chips ghiraidelli
and whatever marshmallow look good
and puffy.

sounds delicious and fun. I'll have to try this with my 3 year old kitchen helper. She LOOOVES to bake anything with chocolate, and I like to eat anything with chocolate :) We are a good team. Thanks for sharing!!

Break Graham Crackers in it's natural places (where the seams are) and spread about a cast iron skillet, break Hershey Bars and scatter about on Graham Crackers, add a handful or more of marshmallows. Repeat one more time, ending with marshmallows.
Place in oven of about 350 for about 10 minutes. Then turn oven to broil, watch closely, to toast marshmallows.
Eat like Nachos.
:)
Oh yum! I've been eating the Xmas colored marshmallows straight out of the bag but this may be a nice alternative!
That sounds delicious!
And btw, I have made your mac n cheese recipe several times and it has always been a hit! Artery clogging is okay in moderation when the food is good for your soul.
I am lazy so I just microwave 2 Mallomars for 8 seconds...lick the chocolate off the marshmallow, then eat the marshmallow and then eat the cookie, and lick the melted chocolate off the plate. usually end up with chocolate on my nose though!
This sounds so yummy! Definitely going to try this one!
Oh, cjane. I read the mac and cheese recipe and it looks SO GOOD. (However, I am not opposed to the occasional artery-clogging food). So I am totally going to make it this weekend. I'm so excited! I know it will be AMAZING. :)
*drooling* at work.
OH, you must be a kindred spirit! Most people laugh at me for my love of smores. Usually I make them in the microwave but anyway I can get that chocolate, marshmallow, graham cracker combo I will take it! I will have to give this delectable recipe a try.
I'm going to be the most popular mom ever now!
If I don't eat the entire pan myself.
Thanks!!
your my hero..I make smores in the broiler all the time but these, THESE sound A-MAZING! Thanks!!
ps. have you ever tried a smores with raspberries and dark chocolate? or with a reece's pb cup?..I could go on and on and on :)
Are you a food blogger now? CJane Dine? I like it.
If looking "good and puffy" makes a marshmallow, looks like I am a marshmallow.
rookie you weren't supposed to see this recipe post. pretend you didn't okay? i don't want you to think i am not the gourmet i want you to believe i am.
If you need the authentic roasted marshmallow flavor, light a candle, stick a fork in the marshmallow, and roast away.
But don't learn the lesson I learned, only remove the marshmallow with your teeth, don't wrap your lips around the fork because it does get hot!
Yum. Yum. Yum.
I really wanted these, but they did not work. The graham cracker was not set at all. It was more like smore cereal sans milk. Darnit. What did I do wrong?
Darn it Anna M. Was the graham cracker too wet? Too much butter maybe?
Did you put them in a bowl, pour milk over them and call them breakfast anyway?
Ok, so I never comment, but I HAVE to comment on your s'more obsession because I have never met anyone who felt the same way about s'mores as I do. ;)
When I went into labor with my first child and the nurses asked me the last time I had eaten, I was horrified that they were going to ask me WHAT I had eaten. My lunch that day was 3 or 4 toaster oven s'mores...yes, I said lunch.
Thanks for posting this recipe, it looks wonderful! My latest s'more treat that I became obsessed with over the summer was Ruby's s'more shake...it's awesome!
Love your blog! :)
Just another poster who loves your mac n' cheese, no matter its artery-cloggingness. While I love s'mores in theory, it's hard to find vegetarian friendly non-gelatinous marshmallows; however, marshmallow fluff has no gelatin which means I can make rice krispie treats for my marshmallow fix!
The best smores I have ever had are rice crispy style made with Golden Grahams cereal. Here's the recipe. Oh, heaven!
3/4 c. light corn syrup
3 tbsp. butter
1 pkg. (11.5 oz.) milk chocolate morsels
3 c. miniature marshmallows
1 tsp. vanilla
1 pkg. (12 oz.) Golden Graham cereal (9 c.)
1. Grease rectangular pan, 13x9x2 inches.
2. Heat syrup, butter and morsels to boiling, stirring constantly. Remove from heat, stir in vanilla.
3. Pour over cereal; toss until coated. Fold in marshmallows, 1 cup at a time. Press in pan with buttered back of spoon. Let stand 1 hour.
4. Cut into 2 inch squares. Store loosely covered at room temperature up to 2 days. Makes 24 squares.
Anna M, the same thing happened to me. It seems to me that half a stick of butter isn't enough of a binding agent for the quantity of graham crackers the recipe calls for. It might make more sense sense if it called for half a cup of butter (one whole stick). I still of course used a spoon and dug into the crumbly mess! I'll try with more butter next time.
