so it sounds like everyone is getting plagiarized these days
and it is most annoying
bloggers of all backgrounds
have written in to ask how to
disable the 'right click' function
on their blog
this article explains how to do it
(thanks amy for the heads up!)

Thank you!
It isn't working for me. Sigh!
The article says to add it as a page element gadget and the code page says add it as the head section of the document. Hmmmmm
Does anyone have ideas to fix it?
Thanks
Well if they plagiarize my blog they are really passing on God's revelation as He gives it to me. Multiplication of God's word & revelation via plagiarization...not a bad idea. I should however put a disclaimer on my page. If you quote the Father wrong it could cost ya!
You should be flattered they find your blog so appealing as to duplicate it. But then again I feel sorry they don't have lives that they have to duplicate anothers and I pray for them. Maybe that should be my disclaimer....if you copy and paste this you will be prayed for whether you like it or not! ;o) Hugs and thanks for the witty blog....it's fun
Thank you for this little tip :D
I love the tip, and I tried it out. I added it as a page element, and when you click on my pictures it says "function disabled" HOWEVER the right click options menu still comes up:( Does anyone have any tips on how to avoid this?
If I am referring to someone's blog I will add something to mine letting people know it is from THEIR blog. I can't imagine anyone ever wanting to copy my blog so I won't be disabling the right click feature for now. I do remember that you've had someone steal your awesome writing and try to pull it off as their own, which doesn't leave me thinking "how flattering", I really think "How awful for someone to steal YOU". So, I would completely understand if bloggers as popular as yourself added this and am glad the tools are out there to teach us how to do this if necessary. Wow, what a ramble!
Thanks for sharing!
cjane, thank you for this.

i agree that taking something that isn't yours and using it without permission and not even crediting the person who created it is wrong. so wrong, there are laws against it. but, please note that this applies to pictures too...not just the written word. And you often use pictures, paintings, graphics on your posts. Like the one of the hand holding the mouse accompanying this post. So, I assume that you either created that graphic yourself or received permission to use it from the person who did create it.
Cjane, somehow i can right click on your blog again...you may want to check and make sure it is still working! (I even was able to copy/paste, which I KNOW you don't want!)
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. :/
Amanda
Just to let you know....... It is still possible to copy/paste through the "select all" tab at the top of the page under the edit tab. I was bummed, thanks for the shortcut right click disable option tho. :o)
this makes me happy.
thanks for the info:)
unfortunately people can still copy/paste by highlighting the content and using the keyboard shortcut, Ctrl+C & Ctrl+V
You really can't stop people from copying things on the internet. The internet is one big copying engine made to duplicate and distribute. Disabling right click is an annoyance with no real effect since I can always look at the page source, do what jack+alli suggested or type it out myself. And spambots that plagiarize to create legitimate looking posts aren't going to use right click either. Just ... just so you know.
(Watermarking photographs or only providing low resolution copies (copies that are fine for viewing on a computer but useless for actually printing) is how to protect your claims there.)
