ok so sometimes
i make up these questions
but only because
i have this excited
giddy
I HAVE GOT TO TELL SOMEONE
expression going on in my throat.
(ignore all that)
i was just notified that my favorite
mormon-themed book
road to heaven
is now being sold for $5.95
directly from the publisher
for $5.95 you will get
philosophy
love
conversion
adventure
sects
drugs
rock and roll
and even if you don't love it
as much as i do
you are only out a couple dollars.
or even if you aren't mormon
as much as i am
at least you will gain some insight into us peculiar people.
shop here.
p.s. if you do decide to buy, and read, will you email me after you are done so we can exchange in conversation about this book? i even told my chup today that he had to read it by the end of the month.
i am serious about this novel.

Well, I've never read LDS fiction before, but you've been talking about this book for many moons now, so I'm thinking I may have to give it a try-on, even if there is sects in it.
Okay, I bought it. Will email you and let you know how it goes!
rebekah, you get me. I am laughing at your comment.
Bonnie, I will wait patiently, and I am not a patient person.
I have been up all night contemplating whether I am as mormon as you are.
Hmmm ~ I might try it if only to better understand you and your clan, whom I love so dearly from afar. I *miss* you! My evening blog reading just isn't the same without you *and* NieNie to savor for last (that's the kind of eater I am too - do you take a bite of everything to come out even, eat your best thing first, or save it for last? This is a question we discuss several times a year around the lunch table in the preschool group at my child care progam. Very revealing of personality ond developmental stages...). Anyway, I'm getting really hungry for some good CJane. Hope you are enjoying your break and time of renewal.

I read it the first time you recommended it and love it enough that I have given it as gifts. I love how it is not your typical conversion story. I love that it is a bit saucy. Plus, I have always been something of a hippie at heart. And here is a secret: I have not purchased a copy for myself yet because I am (patiently!) waiting for my front room's bookshelves to be built (2 years now!) and can not bear the idea of putting another book in my closet full of boxes full of books. But for that price? I think I'm buying a few.
(Was that comment like having me write my own blog post on your blog? Sorry about that.)
Just ordered my copy. Can't wait to read it (as a convert myself). Thanks for the recommend. I am always on the look-out for a good read!
i will order the book and read it as soon as it arrives. i am in the baby stages of looking at lds, and this book will help? could be the ticket.

OK, I think I found the source of why Zarahemla Books suddenly got 25 orders in one day for this book... Thanks for letting people know, and I hope some good discussion ensues.
I'm in! I'm not Mormon--I'm Catholic. But I grew up in a Mormon community, and I like them a lot. Are you okay with non-Mormons participating?
Are you kidding Jet? Even better, your take on the story will add flavor to mine!
Ok, done! I assume buying a "Momon-themed" book on a Sunday makes it OK? ;) I've never been a big fan of this genre, so hoping this one will change my mind. I'll let you know.
Ok I bought it...we will see :)
btw I don't know what option for comment as I am spsd to pick...

just thinking... how about adding a segment of "dear cjane do you know where can i FIND... (fill in the blank)?"
i'll admit, last week when i was shopping (more like searching) for the perfect mustard colored earrings to go with a particular skirt, i thought to myself - i wonder if that cjane would know where to find me some mustard colored earrings...
Hmmmm, this sounds like the beginning of a Blog Book Group. Sounds like an enlightening and fun group without having to clean the house to host!
I think I shall check it out. In the purely book sense.
I can see your fifth blog coming on - the book club. Oh wait - that was going to be Azucar, no?
Oh - and thanks for stopping by on my blog. I felt so presh to see your comment. On pee none the less.
Since I just finished reading two books in the last week and a half, I'm ready for a new one now so...I ordered it. Not to mention that my only experience with Mormon themed books has been a romance novel I randomly picked up in my friend's little sister's room. Needless to say, that was a bad idea so I look forward to trying this one and discussing.
I second From The Kitchen's idea about a blog book group.
Bought it. Read it on my vaca to SoCal last week. Loved it. Been thinking about it ever since. Thanks!
I'm in the middle of reading it - and really enjoying it.
I wonder if he went the fiction route because he thought it would get a better reception that way?
(Since he says it's "an autobiographical novel.)
My home is Colorado. I have been to many of the places he talks about in the book. I have seen the sun rise and fall in the ways he describes. And for that, I love this book that much more! I'm about half done with it, will let you know how I like the end.
So I want to know a non-Mormon reaction to it.
